R&B Vs. Pop
We actually didn’t know what song to do for a while and it was starting to worry me. Nothing school appropriate and also interesting to me came to mind. We brushed it off for a while and still came back with a blank mind. After countless hours of video watching, dancing, water breaks, getting into character and “turn that down” We finally found the perfect song for my music video. We decided to go a little new school,
they wear costumes like baggy pants, long shirts, long chains shades and more. They use props like speakers, fancy cars, party props and more. Their appearance is usually hip and r&b adding to the overall music video.
The score through the music videos are medium to slow paced sounds, meant to make the viewer feel what they are portraying. Whether that’s heartbreak, sadness, happiness and more.
1. Convention and codes in music videos are labels, sometimes editing labels, and symbols representing who they worked with and who they represent.
2. In the music video the cameras are always angled to show the singer/rapper. If there are labels or other editing/ production work or logos in the video it is mostly shown in the beginning or end and sometimes throughout the video in a corner.
3. The music videos most of the times include ethos, to reach the viewer and connect to them emotionally. The actors can also have an influence in the music video because they can add or take away from the quality. Even the camera angles and how well the recorder does effect the whole production.
